strange bedfellows

Suffice it to say, my kids spend a great deal of their time at odds, and there are more Bigfoot sightings than there are those of Quinn and Reilly being affectionate with each other. Quinn is quite tender-hearted, and tries to reach out, but Rei's a pistol and pretty much only gets mushy with Mama. So imagine my surprise yesterday when I discovered that they had both crawled in bed with me, and after unwittingly squeezing me out into the cold harsh morning much too early, were left together, as though by choice. I got a little misty.

My sleeping beauties:

All that time sleeping next to each other must have altered their biorhythms or something, because after dinner I noticed Reilly giving Quinn a make-over, to which he was more amenable than I'd have expected. They were laughing and parting his hair on the wrong side, putting in ponytails, and even a sweet little pink bow.

I think maybe we need to cut back on Will & Grace...

Those sweet slumbering moments are reset for me. I see them still, quiet, and innocent so my desire to run for the hills wanes and I can make it through another day of tantrums and whining.

Yes they would most certainly mind a) that I posted the pics, and b) that they were sleeping together, lol. Luckily, they have better things to do than peruse Mom's boring old blog.

Yeah, just to be clear, Karen would never be caught dead wearing a bow like that. (All the more reason why I should get to play Karen! You know, that, and also my love of pills.)

When I was like 7 years old, I used to pay my sister in Halloween candy to allow me to do her makeup. (yes, even then, I had a love of makeup) Needless to say,I painted her up like cheap, cheap whore. But it was all in good fun, and she was a a semi good sport about it. Later, together, we would corner the dog, and crimp his hair.

Your kids are going to kill you when they happen upon this, lol. But, if sleeping in the same bed makes them get along better, you ought to be seeing better returns from all those years of co-sleeping!
